- What your results explain?
This home based sleep test is a valuable diagnostic tool for sleep disorders particularly obstructive sleep apnea(OSA).
The test measures breathing, heart rate and blood oxygen levels of the patient during sleep. It also records the time spent snoring and your sleep position.
What is the test
Home sleep test is an easy, cost-effective way to determine if someone has trouble breathing. It includes a very simplified breathing monitor that tracks breathing, oxygen levels, and breathing effort while worn.
How is the test done?
Steps involved in home sleep testing are
The patient has to sleep
wearing the test equipment.
The patient has to attach the
sensors to their body as
A small tube similar to an
oxygen cannula is placed in the
nostrils to measure airflow
through the nose.
The sensors collect information about the patient’s breathing patterns and blood oxygen levels as well as heart rate.
Information collected is then interpreted by the physician to confirm diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea.
What does the
Home sleep testing involves the patient attaching the sensors to his body as instructed.
The sensors typically include a sensor that slips over the patient’s index finger to monitor their oxygen levels and heart rate.
Another set of sensors monitor the patient’s breathing patterns.
A small tube similar to an oxygen cannula is placed in the nostrils to measure airflow through the nose.
Who should take
Sleep Apnea testing is indicated in case of
